Does US Airways have television on flight

Does US Airways have television on flight?
I wondering if US Airways have personal television in the seatbacks, Im flying from Buffalo to Charlotte to Montego Bay? Just wondering if anybody knew..

Most likely not on those types of aircraft. If you were flying overseas, probably they would. Check this site out, it will tell you alot about your plane. www.seatguru.com
2 :
yes i know a guy who works there
3 :
I flew U.S., Airways , Manchester,England to Chicago, then on to San Francisco,( return of course). I found them to be an absolutely superb airline in every way but the aircraft in which I flew did not have seat mounted t.v., sets. They did of course have perfectly good ceiling mounted sets. Bon Voyage.
4 :
i flew us airways this past february vacation from maine conencting through charlotte and reaching the destination of phoenix arizona to visit my aunt and uncle that live in phoenix. yup they have these televisions that pop out that give instructions on safety. they play a movie on it and when the movie is done they play like 4 shows after that. it was the same way coming back to maine connecting through philadelphia. they didn't play movies fro manchester nh to charlotte but they did charlotte to phoenix. they played movies from phoenix to philadelphia but not philadelphia to manchester. it depends on how long your flight is. if the flight isn't that long they won't normally play a movie and shows but if your on a long flight they will.

Booking a flight

Booking a flight?
I'm booking a flight on JetBlue (San Diego to Charlotte, North Carolina) and it says we have to connect in new york. Does that mean that we have to switch planes? or do we just stay on the same plane?
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
yep, you're gonna switch planes. after your layover. the time between flights will tell you how long you will have in the aiport. hopefully not more than a couple of hours...
2 :
some you do switch, some you don't. if you switch, they'll automatically move your luggage to the other plane, you won't have to worry about it. it should give you flight numbers. if they are different, then you switch.
3 :
Actually, it could be either way, depending on the aircraft. Usually, connecting means you go to another gate, and another plane, that's bound for your final destination. Ask them to check your bags through to your final destination, CLT. Also, there is a minimum timeframe for the carrier to allow between when your inbound flight gets to New York, and when you depart for Charlotte. Bon voyage!

Will the airline transfer my bags or will I have to claim and re-check

Will the airline transfer my bags or will I have to claim and re-check?
I'm flying from Charlotte, NC to my connecting flight in Houston. From Houston I will be flying to Mexico. I need to know if I need to claim my bags in Houston or will the airline transfer them straight from Charlotte to Guadalajara? Both flights are through Continental if that matters. I just need to know if I have enough time to make my connecting flight. I have an hour between planes. Ok, I'm a little new to this so let me just ask one more thing. When I flied into the U.S. from Mexico I flied first to Atlanta and then to Charlotte and they didn't transfer my bags, I had to claim them in Atlanta and re-check. Is this because it was an international flight?
Air Travel - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
they'll transfer them
2 :
the airline will do that for you.
3 :
Because its a connecting flight the airline will transfer them
4 :
they will transfer
5 :
They will transfer your bags through to Mexico for you. The reason you had to claim your bags when you entered the US was because US Customs and Immigration requires you to clear customs at your first point of entry into the United States. You'll also have to claim and recheck you bags if you are connecting through the US if and when you return.
6 :
no you don't have to do anything the airline do
7 :
When going out of the US, you do not have to claim your bags at the connecting flight. You will just have to claim then at your destination (Mexico). However when coming into the US, you do have to claim your bags at Atlanta because it is your first stop inside the US, you have go through immigration and then take your bags through security and then recheck them and pick them up at your destination (charlotte) I just arrived from Mexico and had to recheck my bags in Atlanta and take them through security. When i arrived in Louisville, I only picked up my bags and did not have to go back through security. Since Atlanta is your first stop in the US, they must check your bags and make sure you are bringing in anything you shouldn't.

Marines Camp Lejeune, NC?
I want to visit my finace cause im dying to see him. I usually book with Jet blue...but they have a flight for charlotte,NC. and and Raleigh is there any other..Im from NYC by the way, how else will I have to do to get there/ and i dont drive

take continental or any company that provides faster aircraft, video chatting is pretty good too
2 :
There is a small airport in Wilmington, NC---approx. 50 miles south of Lejeune. The town of Jacksonville, where Lejeune is at, has a dinky sized airport as well. Shoot for those two. If Jet Blue cannot get you where you need to go, then I suggest you find another Airliner. Another option is to go Greyhound. 'it's slow, but it will get you to Jacksonville. Good luck.
3 :
check with the local Corp office in your area...they may be able to steer you toward some ideas. also, take a train ride...relaxing, refreshing, and less expensive. one thing to make sure....check with your fiancé before just up and taking off to see him. he may not be able to even get time...so check his schedule first...no pop-up surprise visits.
4 :
The closest airport is Jacksonville, NC. You'll have to check which air carriers fly in to Jacksonville. From the airport you can take either a hotel shuttle, or pay for a taxi... or have him come out and pick you up.
5 :
us airways and delta are the only airlines that i know of that fly right into jacksonville. us air is usually the cheapest, but alot of times their flighs get delayed! once you get to the jacksonille airport, they have a bus that will take u to the base for just a few dollars.. alot cheaper than a cab!

I need help finding a cheap flight

I need help finding a cheap flight?
I will be flying from Charlotte, NC to Orlando, FL I will be leaving around 6pm on feb. 12 and will be returning on feb. 15. Can someone please find the cheapest non stop flight?

no, but I will tell you to look at 1. kayak.com 2. iflyswa.com and you should get your answer!
2 :
No. If you want someone else to do all of the work, phone a travel agent. Probably US Air or Air Trans will be have the low fare. Something around $300 including taxes. You'd probably save $50 - $60 if you could leave on Thursday, rather than Friday. Try one of the travel search engines e.g. mobissimo.com.
3 :
You'll find a $317 flight on Dohop.com, http://www.dohop.com/?a1=Charlotte+(CLT)+NC+United+States,&a2=Orlando+(SFB,MCO)+FL+United+States,&d1=120210&return=1&d2=150210
4 :
I would look at http://www.southwest.com or US Airways. Those 2 airline should have non-stop flights to Orlando. AirTran would be another airline to check-out.

What should i do to cure boredom on flights? 10 points

What should i do to cure boredom on flights? 10 points!?
Ok, so i'm moving to Hawaii in December and there will possibly be a nonstop flight from charlotte (not my hometown), NC to Oahu, Hawaii. That will be over a 12 hour flight! My main concern is that i will be bored out of my mind. Only one my friends has been on a plane trip even CLOSE to that long, so i will be needing some more advanced help. I'm older than 10, which is all i can say, so i need more mature answers. I do have an ipod, but it doesn't have very good battery. Please help!!!

3 :
Read a glossy magazine with interesting articles in. The reason that I say glossy is because newspaper and books have china clay in the surface and over the time you may develop nose or eye problems. You may like to write poetry. Now there's a thing.
4 :
All i can say if Fantasize!..it doesn't have to be dirty things. It can be about starting your new life. Its like daydreaming. Only i call it fantasizing.
5 :
hey I have to do the same thing tomorrow I'm going from Chicago to Tokyo. Im 14 so I probably can relate to you pretty well What airline are you going on? sometimes they have movies you can watch if not get a movie on you ipod movies make the time fly also sleeping may be hard but once your asleep time passes you can also take madlibs which are fun or take magazines (gossip and stuff) or a good book and I suggest you take your own food like instant cup noodles and have them add hot water because I hate airplane food Hope this helps this is what I do :)
6 :
I totally understand, i went to New Zealand from London and it was about 24 hours total flying time!!! I almost went crazy but here are some things to do: *Ipod of course *Some airlines have movies, music and games on a little screen in front of your seat. *Take a portable DVD player if you have one and/or a nintendo. *Eat! *Walk up and down the plane (good for preventing DVTs) *Take a book AND magazines *Maybe take some playing cards *Do any homework you might have or get a puzzle book thing *Drink plenty of water! *Look out of the window Sleeping is a good idea but i find it really hard to sleep on a plane. If you can, then it will really help to pass the time. Make sure you have eyeshades and a small pillow or get a neck cushion. Good luck and have a safe trip!
7 :
If you like that sort of thing, pick up some origami paper and bring it with you. If you like puzzles, you could try Sudoku, Kenken, or logic puzzles. Often, larger planes have screens behind every headrest, so you can watch TV or a movie. Sometimes the movies are free, and sometimes you have to pay by credit card. You could read, draw, etc.

Would it be smart to take a flight and stop in Hawaii and then to Japan

Would it be smart to take a flight and stop in Hawaii and then to Japan?
I'm looking for the shortest "time". Or i'm just asking how long it takes to get to Japan from the West Coast of the US. I fly to Germany from Charlotte a lot and THAT alone I hate. Flying does kind of scare me.

The direct flight from USA from LAX or SFO to NRT takes about 11 hours - If you go to HNL first, that is a 5 hours flight from the West Coast - Then from HNL to Japan, still would be about 9 hours... You do not gain much time by stopping in Honolulu... The shortest flight USA to Japan would be from Seattle - You gain 1 hour - I doubt the airlines still do Anchorage to Japan - That was 6 hours... Yeah - Everybody is scared - I was too...
2 :
One nice thing about laying over in Hawaii is that you get to lay over in Hawaii. Even if it is not the fastest way to Japan, Hawaii does have its charms.

Flying with my 16 month old son who is very active...will not stay still for long periods of time

Flying with my 16 month old son who is very active...will not stay still for long periods of time?
The good thing is it is only a 2.5 hour direct flight from Providence to Charlotte. Any hints from flight attendants out there or moms experienced with flying with kids this age. Im worried about his ears, and of course the other passengers. Milk for take off and the flight is at nap time but he is on my lap. Im fearing a meltdown in the sky! Thanks for any advice, I appreciate it .

if it's during naptime you should be okay. I've travelled with my children before, but when they were under a year or over two. In other words, not old enough to be walking or old enough to understand "no" :D. If you have to take him with you, I suggest carrying on snacks, books, little toys, or a special toy friend. If there is a movie, or you can bring a laptop and play his favorite movie, that is good too. My children usually just sit and watch a movie while we're travelling. Even for a five-hour trip I can usually keep them pretty well amused. Remember kids aren't sitting any more on a 2.5 hour flight than they would watching a movie or listening to you read a story.
2 :
Hi, my advise for you would be to stay calm and expect him to behave his age even if he's on the flight. Take 1-2 new toys and snacks he likes. And the best would be if you can get hold of first row seat. This gives kids place to stand, sit on the floor and (you stand a chance for a bassinet seat)always take an isle seat so you can get up with him too. Just be patient. As for the ear pain, just give him something to chew, like chips, puffs, candy, its the best time to give milk, juice, anything, so he can keep taking in his saliva so he does not get ear pain, start when the flight is on the runway and about to take off, and when the pilot has announced the landing and you can feel the descent. Be relaxed yourself and behave normally, he'll automatically be in control. Good Luck- Stuti Agarwal (mother of 2.5 yr old, and have been on long flights US-India- US about 7 times)

Check with the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ They will have the best advise and also check with the airline you are using since all have different requirments. Also, check to see if you are having to stay in the same terminal or run to another on the other side of the airport. If it were me, I`d do carry on and buy once there.

Can you change a passenger on a Continental Flight

Can you change a passenger on a Continental Flight?
Okay so me and my friend were supposed to go to Vegas in November and she cannot make the trip. I booked two connecting flights plus hotel through expedia. The trip is already paid for. Is there any way to change her flight tickets to another person?? I really don't want to loose the tickets and I really don't want to go to Vegas alone :o( Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, would it be best to contact expedia on the matter or call the airline directly?? I'm sure I will have to pay some sort of a fee, that's not a problem. The flights are round-trip charlotte, nc to vegas connecting in houston both flights. Also we are staying at the Bellagio in Vegas, would I need to contact them on this matter as well, I assumed not since the hotel is booked under my name.

You cannot change the traveler on an airline ticket due to security concerns. You will need to cancel the original ticket and buy a new one.
2 :
No, you can't change the name. You would have to cancel the one reservation, and book a new one. This may cost you an arm and a leg. Here is the link for Continental refunds, try calling them to see what your options are. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/reservations/refunds/default.aspx

Okay, so, if you were to leave Osaka, Japan, at 7AM, and take a 17 hour flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, what time would it be when you get to Charlotte? Apparently it matters which direction you're going? So since I don't think you can get from Osaka to Charlotte in 17 hours going west, we'll just say that its going across the Pacific ocean, east.

How do I find a super cheap flight?
I'm trying to get from Salt Lake City, Utah to Charlotte, South Carolina. I would want to leave about the 30th of July and return about the 4th of August. How can I find flights that are affordable, preferably under $400 round trip? I'm looking at flying out of Las Vegas, are there any other cities I should look into that are near by? Oops. 1. Priceline Name Your Own Price. 2. I generally tell people to not buy from 3rd party sites as they are the same price, and sometimes even more (exception is #1) 3. Buy middle of the week 4. Buy midnight 5. BUY NOW 6. Sign up for email alerts from the airlines. Since Salt Lake CIty is a Delta hub, check with them. Charlotte is a US Airways hub, so check with them also. Edit: No, don't fly out of Charlotte...that's wayyy to far. I see the only option is to fly direct to Charleston
3 :
SLC and LAS aren't real close together. Charlotte and Charleston aren't, either. If either of those is OK, then what about RDU or ATL?
4 :
I would see if Southwest has anything to Charlotte or Raleigh. Another airport to see about flying out of is Denver. However know that flying during the summer months is really expensive. Also you want to buy quickly as waiting will only mean higher airfare.
5 :
One website that seems to have great prices is vayama.com. I put your info into their search and came up with prices around $575... I know it's a little higher than you'd like but when I've compared prices with different sites this one has always impressed me. Good luck!
6 :
july and august are the most expensive months to fly in so try to get a good deal now try searching http://flyairfares.com and other sirtravel sites
7 :
There's no website that will ALWAYS be the "cheapest". That's why you have to shop around. Try to be flexible on your dates and times. If you can drive a short distance to a "less" busy airport, that might help save some money. Try to book your flight early am or late pm, that can sometimes save money. Weekdays are usually cheaper than weekends. Don't limit your search to only the "well-known" travel sites, most are owned by the same company -which mean not much difference in the price. So,be sure to check other travel sites otherwise you might miss out on a great deal. Think of these travel sites like grocery stores, they all "sell" the same thing. So, why pay more for the same flight those other guys are selling? Try this travel site; www.everydaytravelconnections.com Hope this helps!
8 :
I always find great prices for my air flight tickets on Globester. I am always used to get special offers to save my travel expenses. You can also check their special offers for reductions and discounts. You can find cheap flights and exclusive cheap airfare flight deals. It is very reliable and quick way to book your flight tickets at affordable rate. :)

I believe you will have to make a connection in Miami, Mexico or maybe Texas. If there is a direct flight it should take about 3 hours. With the connection, I would expect at least a 7 hour trip, but probably longer.
2 :
I know a flight from Charlotte, NC to San Jose, Costa Rica was almost right at 3 hours. Going off that, I'd assume your flight would be right about the same, give or take about 20 minutes max.
3 :
If you are talking commercial flight, not light plane, you will have to connect in Atlanta, Miami or Houston, depending on the airline. From any one of those to Tegus it's less than two hours direct.
4 :
I have a strong feeling that the plane may stop at Miami. Approx. 3 hrs. I traveled frm Miami to Tegucigalpa and from Stanford, Ct to Tegucigalps and always stopped at Miami.

Find the tv monitors that display the flights/departure times/ gate locations. Just because your ticket gives a gate doesn't mean that they haven't changed it. So, when you get off the plane in NC find the monitors and figure out where your gate is...go over there with your ticket and off you go!
2 :
awful...especially if the guy next to you hasn't showered...not that I'm bitter. haha. Honestly, jokes aside, there's no reason to be nervous. You're safer in a jet plane than you are in your own car. Relax.
3 :
Relax! Airlines do not sell connections that put passengers in risk. I think the minimum lay over allowed is 45 minutes. What I suggest is you bring your itinerary copy with times and gates highlighted, carefully read it before your trip and before your first segment landing, and as soon as you get out at Charlotte you check your connection flight status and dep. gate at the monitors located all over the terminal. Sometimes flight attendants read a list of flight connections and gates before landing. But you should keep checking monitors at the terminal not only when arriving to Charlotte but also while you're walking to the next flight dep. gate. Also, if it is a major airline, you can set up what they call ALERTS, meaning that you can receive any change information in your cell right away. Is it very useful. But again, calm down and enjoy your new experience!
4 :
Your only problem will be if your first flight is delayed. If you think you are going to miss your flight, you can ask a stewardess while in flight for information. They are sometimes able to obtain info about flights and gate numbers prior to landing. Also, don't panic if you miss your flight. You can go talk to the airline reps at the gate and they can assist you in handling the situation (whether that is getting you on another flight or getting you hotel accommodations). Just don't be afraid to ask questions.

Most likely going directly with the airline will be the cheapest option. Don't book your ticket through orbitz.com or travelocity.com - they don't have any cheaper fares than the airline directly and they also charge a "booking fee" so it's no better than the airline's website.
2 :
Try "YTB Travel - Amazing Tours and Travel" http://www.ytbtravel.com/amazingtoursandtravel
3 :
Cheapest I see to EUG is $337 from both CLT and RDU (American and Northwest). If you were going to rent a car anyway, then fares to PDX (Portland) are about $100 cheaper (Delta). Best to book direct from the airline to avoid additional booking fees.
4 :
You can try cheapoair.com you might land up with some real cheap fares.... They also comes with the Low Fare Guarantee All the best... pal

1 :
Go onto the US Airways website for online checkin.
2 :
Hi there -- First of all, you need to find your confirmation code, which you'll find on Travelocity.com in the "My Stuff" section in the top right hand corner. It will either be called your record locator or your confirmation code, and it'll be six letters -- something like EDRTDE or something. Once you have that, go over to the US Airways website (www.usairways.com) and click on "check in" at the top towards the left hand side. You'll be prompted to enter your name and the city you're departing from, choose from "today" or "tomorrow" -- remember, you can only check in up to 24 hours in advance -- and then you'll be able to choose how you want to look up your flight. The easiest way is to pick "confirmation code" and then enter that six-letter code you got from your Travelocity page. After that, you should be taken to a new page where you can choose your seats (if you haven't already) and print your boarding pass. Then you're all checked in! If you need to check a bag when you get to the airport, head to the US Airways desk and look for a sign saying "check bags here," a kiosk, or an attendant to help you. You obviously don't need to check in again, but you should still try and get to the airport an hour in advance -- your bags need to be checked 40 minutes before departure, and lines at the security checkpoint can be long. Hope this helps! Have a safe flight. --Holly

LOL yes because they have to clean the plane you are on for the next group of people.... so you would be in their way.... also your seat is someone else's seat for the next flight... they DEF. aren't gonna give you a free flight to somewhere else just bc you are sleeping. Good luck on your first flight! I couldn't even sleep on my first flight... I was too anxious being on the plane. LOL.

Cabin crew will wake you up
6 :
Everyone must be awake during take off and landing to be aware in case of any emergencies, so yes, the will wake you.
7 :
dont worry your ears popping usueally does the trick thats what woke me up on a trip to charlotte matter of fact (I had to change planes in Dallas) plus the plane will come to stop at the gate
8 :
This is really worrying about something that could not happen. Before landing all the seats have to be in the upright position so if you are reclined they will wake you up and tell you to fix your seat. Unless you have taken lots of sleeping pills you wouldn't sleep through all the announcements, hitting the runway, people getting off the plane etc. If you were under the heavy influence of drugs and still asleep the flight attendants would come help you. they would not go off and leave somebody on a plane.
9 :
Don`t worry they will soon wake you up
10 :
No worries on that one. They won't leave you on the plane because it makes it look untidy

duration of my flight

duration of my flight?
my flight from dublin to charlotte is meant to be 11 hrs long with 1 technical stop, does this mean i have to be on a plane journey for 11 hrs?
Air Travel - 2 Answers

1 :
No........when they quote flight time it includes any stops along the way.The times are from the time you take off until you are planed to land.
2 :
Eleven hours from Dublin to Charlotte, NC is a long flight. I suppose the "technical stop" must be about 5 hours long. I don't know what a "technical stop" is, but the non-stop distance from Dublin to Charlotte is only about a 6 hour flight under normal circumstances. However, there is no non-stop flights between these two cities, so you are making a connection somewhere. You should take a good look at your itinerary and see where you are routed and what the flight times are. Regards, Dan

Changing airports in New York

Changing airports in New York?
I am looking up flights from Charlotte, NC to Rome, Italy. On the flight I'd like to buy, the details say I'll fly into La Guardia airport in New York, then switch airports to JFK. My question is, how exactly does this work? Will I have to take a taxi to JFK? or a shuttle? What about my luggage? Will I need to recheck it at JFK or will the airports take care of that for me? I'd appreciate any help!
New York City - 3 Answers

1 :
Changing airports is a pain. You have to take a bus or a taxi, and take your luggage with you. If there are two people, just take a taxi for about $30. If only one, a shuttle is cheaper but slower. See the web site below for details. It is possible to change airports by city bus and subway, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who's not familiar with NYC. (You buy a Metrocard at the machine in the LGA main terminal, then the Q33 bus from LGA to Jackson Heights, then the outbound E subway to Sutphin Blvd, then the JFK Airtrain, using the Metrocard to pay for each.)
2 :
In regards to your first question. You do have to take a taxi from LGA to JFK. The cab fare will range anywhere from $15 to $20. In addition to that, you can take an airport express bus from LGA to JFK. The one way fare on the New York Airport Service will cost you about $12. In regards to your second question. Since you're transferring from one airport to another, you need to carry your own luggage, which means you will have to re-check it again at JFK. Thankfully, all New York City taxi cabs have trunk space, and NYAS buses have overhead racks onboard. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck
3 :
I would rather eat glass than fly through any airport in NY. Changing flights and terminals is crazy. Changing airports? That is really a problem. Charlotte is a USAir hub and they have a direct flight from Philly to Rome. The plane they use is more comfortable than the one they use for their Dublin flight. Try to avoid NY at any cost.

Where can I get a really cheap flight under 200 from TX to NC, GA, or SC at the very last minute

Where can I get a really cheap flight under 200 from TX to NC, GA, or SC at the very last minute?
I want to go to Spartanburg, SC this weekend to see some friends and it would be an extremely last minute decision. Problem is, I only have 120 bucks. I could get a little more, but not much. Anyone know where online I can get an extremely cheap last minute ticket to Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC, Greenville, SC, or Atlanta, GA for this weekend from Houston?

Overstaying the Visa waiver guarantees he won't be able to use it again, not to mention it will be very difficult to have even a visitor's visa approved when he leaves. Likelihood of returning to the US less than 2% imo.

I don't know if this helps you or not, but US Airways DOES have a direct flight from Charlotte to London Gatwick. Good luck!

The flight from Charlotte to Philadelphia is a domestic flight so it is unlikely that any CBP officers would be at the departure gate. In Philadelphia, there is a slim chance that CBP officers may be at the departure gate, but the outstanding directions at this time are not to prevent the departure of an illegal alien, like your husband, if they are about to board a plane to depart the U.S. If a CBP Officer stops and questions your husband, he will not prevent your husband's departure (unless there is a warrant out for his arrest). He might question him, fingerprint him, photocopy his documents, search his belongings, but he isn't going to stop him from leaving.

How easy is it to commute as a flight attendant

How easy is it to commute as a flight attendant?
I have a job interview soon with Miami Air. Although I am willing to commute I would prefer to stay in Charlotte. How hard would it be for me to commute? Does it make it any easier that Miami Air is a charter airline? And does anyone do something like this or know someone who does?
Air Travel - 3 Answers

1 :
easy
2 :
I think for regular passenger airlines if there is an empty seat, you can fly for free to get to your destination so you can start your job. As for charter, if the plane is empty there may not be a problem. Not sure if they will allow you to sit in the jump seat (seat behind the pilot). You can ask during the interview.
3 :
Ok, well. I think its gonna be harder for you. If you worked for a regular airlines, and that airline had multiple flights from home to eork, and back, you could just jump on any plane anytime. Since this is a charter airline, make sure they have "jumpseat agreements" with other airlines. This means that you can take a jumpseat on another carrier. If a regular seat is open, you can take that o ne instead. BUT that airline's employees have priority. This means that If there is one seat and they give it to you, you board the plane, and you are just waiting for them to shut door.... and one of that airline's employee shows up asking for the jumpseat, they will give it to them and ask you to give it up for them. If theres more flights, you can take next one, but if not, then you're screwed. Its always good to know which airlines your company has those agreements with, and also schedule of all flights from all airlines to your home city. that way you have a back up. Good luck, oh yeah, and it always helps to check the flight load status online and make reservation as well, that way they have u in the system when u show up, if possible. It was easy for me, because there were flights back and forth ever 1 hr to and from work aaaalll day. Good luck.

How to get a cheap last minute flight for 17 people

How to get a cheap last minute flight for 17 people?
My family and I need to fly from New York City to Charlotte, NC for my fathers funeral. No one is in the emotional state to drive 12 hours and bereavement rates are high. I need to know how to get the cheapest airfare.
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I'm so sorry to hear about your father.... anyway, there are no last minute cheap flights. normally, last minute airfares are really expensive for the mere reason that airfare normally is sold from the most affordable, which is the most restricted to the most expensive Business class and first class. So, most airlines offer only the full coach class, and the business and first class during last minute booking.. however, try contacting different airlines to check if they have group bookings. Normally, group bookings are less expensive compared to the normal tickets...but since it's last minute booking, then it may not be as affordable as possible. second, you can try checking websites, like cheaptickets.com, to see if they have airfares that are affordable, the only catch with affordable last minute booking since they are so rare, is it always, has a catch. It's either non refundable, non reusable..and you may not be allowed to cancel it, or you may be able to find cheap last minute flights, but you can book it only for that particular date, but not being able to choose the time of flight, it's like, the airline would let you know if it's time to fly... hope this helps!
2 :
Jet Blue offers low fares from NYC to Charlotte I would check them first or Us Airways. Jet Blue-$378pp leaves 7:20 a.m. Tuesday and has 25 seats left Us Airways-$440pp leaves @ 10a.m. Tuesday and has 17 seats left
3 :
I'm very sorry about your loss. Most likely, you'll want to fly US Airways since they fly non-stop from LaGuardia to Charlotte. Don't book online. Call US Airways at 1-800-428-4322 for reservations. Tell them the reservation is for 17 (you'll already get a group discount), and it is because of a death in the family. Most likely, they can give you a nice discount. You could also give Delta Airlines a call since they fly non-stop from JFK to Charlotte, and Continental from Newark. Good luck!
4 :
Last-minute flights are almost never even remotely "cheap." . Add in the specific destination and 17 people, and it's just not going to happen. Sorry. I'd suggest contacting a bus company. In your area there certainly are quite a few.

flight to mexico

flight to mexico?
I was on the continental website yesterday about 6 pm looking for a flight to mexico from charlotte. I found the flight a few days before for 771 dollars. the yesterday it was at 400 dollars. the 20 minutes went by and it changed back to the normal 771. can any one tell me why it changed. and is there any time of day when the airline has it prices cheaper like yesterday. like 6 or 7 pm.
Air Travel - 2 Answers

1 :
Continental sometimes does this...just have to be lucky. My friend who flies between the U.s. and Mexico frequently, has hit some of these bargains with continental.
2 :
No, they don't make the fares cheaper at specific times of the day. That's a myth that you commonly see on this website. There are two reasons why this happens. One is that airlines only offer a limit number of discount seats on any given flight. Therefore, a flight can be one price right now and much higher later. It just means that the discount seats that you wanted have sold out and you now have to buy a higher fare (or pray for cancellations or a seat sale). The other is that airlines change fares constantly depending on supply and demand. If flights are selling quickly, the airline may raise fares and/or reduce the number of discount seats. If sales are slow, the airline may reduce fares and/or increase the number of discount seats. I've seen fares for the same flight change multiple times in a single day. Predicting airfares has gotten to be like predicting the stock market. They may be higher tomorrow. They may be lower tomorrow. Who knows? The only consistent rule is that the cheapest fares often have an advance purchase requirement of 14-21 days before departure. If you wait too close to departure, your trip can get extremely expensive.

Are you able to leave your concourse you are flying out of

Are you able to leave your concourse you are flying out of?
I have never been in a large airport, so I don't know the answer to this. I'm flying out of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, NC. My flight is taking off at Concourse D. After you have been through security (metal detector, baggage check, etc.) are you able to move to different concourses? I don't know how it works. This question may sound stupid I know.
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
In CLT u can, but that isnt true in every airport. Here is a map of the airport
2 :
once you've checked your baggage in, they'll tell you what terminal to go to. Once you pass through the metal detector towards your gate, it's best to play it safe and stay at the terminal your gate is at. There's nothing of interest at the concourses, they're pretty much set up the same w/similiar stores, etc.
3 :
Hello, That's an interesting question. Actually, it depends on the airport, particularly the locations of the security checkpoints. Based on looking at a terminal map of CLT, you can move throughout different terminals after passing through security. The terminals are all interconnected after the security checkpoint. You cannot, however, go back to the ticketing area unless you pass through security again. Happy flying!
4 :
Depends on the airport. Some can, some cant. Charlotte can. All of the concourses are behind the same set of security checkpoints (there is only one area to get in if you know what i mean) You can do it as long as all the concourses are connected after security. If each concourse or each area has its own entrance and exit, then you cant.

There are some great deals right now, flying, and Charlotte is a good sized airport which should be part of those deals. Problem sometimes is that you need to fly mid-week and / or stay over a weekend to qualify. Daughter just got a $59, one way, but had to pay $159, return. With gasoline prices so high, I'd check out the airlines.

No you will not have to get and re-check your bags. If possible, when you check your bags in Norfolk, double check that the tags read MBJ... the code for Montego Bay. On the return, you will need to get your bags to go thru customs in Charlotte, but you can re-check them easily right after the customs process and you will won't have to go thru security again. RJ
2 :
nope charlotte is a nice airport you might have Little walk (since i presume the Norfolk flight is on us air express (which usually end up in concourse E and while the jets use concourse b so you would have a bit of a hike (about 20 minutes walk)

Travelling from London to Vegas connecting in Chatlotte

Travelling from London to Vegas connecting in Chatlotte?
I'm travelling from London to Las Vegas and have a flight connecting in Charlotte with a 3 hour stop, has anyone done this before and if so can you please give me some help, do i have to collect my luggage from one plane and the re book it onto the connecting flight or will the airline (continental) do this for me, also do i have to go through customs again etc?, any help will be much appreciated.

The airline wouldn't be Continental if you are connecting in Charlotte it would be US Airways. Its probably a code share flight you bought it through Continental but the actual plane is a US Airways plane and you will check in with US Airways. Is it the flight from Gatwick? When you check in the airline will tag your luggage through to Las Vegas, the tag would read "CLT" & "LAS". When you arrive Charlotte this is your first point of entry into the U.S. and is where you will do immigration and customs. So you will pass through immigration and proceed to the customs hall and collect your baggage, physically take it through customs then turn it back over to the airline to be rechecked, its an easy process since your bags are already tagged. When you come out of the customs hall you will see a bag drop/recheck area for US Airways. You will have to do security to get back out to the gates for your Las Vegas flight so if you've bought any duty free liquor leaving Gatwick make sure you transfer it from your carry-on to your checked luggage before you recheck your bags or they will confiscate it at security :( You will not do customs again in Las Vegas as you'll be arriving on a domestic flight from Charlotte. Have a great time in Sin City :)
2 :
So yes, you are flying with US Airways. Once you arrive to Charlotte you will go through customs then pick up your bags and you will then need to go where it says Baggage in Connection you'll leave them there so they get to Vegas and then you will just follow the signs that says Connections where you will pass a Security Point. 3 hours is plenty of time so it's 99% you make this connection.

What are the procedures of boarding a flight? URGENT

What are the procedures of boarding a flight? URGENT?
I haven't flown since I was a child so I am completely clueless as to what the steps are to boarding a plane. I am taking a flight (alone) tomorrow morning, bright and early from Milwaukee to Myrtle Beach. There is one stop (in Charlotte, NC) on the way there. Any outlines/guidelines for me? Park, then check in, then security? I already printed off my boarding passes from the airline's website.
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
yea park, go to the check in counter and check in any luggage that youre not carrying on. make sure the luggage is unlocked or locked with a tsa lock, or they will call you back and its a pain. then go to the tsa check point, they will check your carry on, if you have a laptop you have to take it out and put it in it's own lil tub, so that you can power it on and show them its a laptop and not a freaking bomb. take your shoes off and all metal and put it in another tub. if you are carrying any liquids (AT ALL even some lip gloss is bomb like contraband to the TSA) you cant have more than 3 oz. of any one liquid and each seperate liquid item has to all fit in a quart size ziploc baggie. its really just a hassle, try not to carry liquids on with you. you cant carry water or a coke, youll have to buy that when you get thru security, some food is alright tho. then when you get all your crap checked and put your shoes back on and TSA is sure youre not a terrorist... you go find your gate and wait for boarding. they call you by groups. your group will be located on your boarding pass, you just give the attendant your pass and get on the plane. store your items, fasten your seatbelt, and make stupid chit chat with someone next to you untill the plane takes off. have a good time!
2 :
get there about 2 hours early first: check in ur luggage and show them the bording passes. then ask what gate to go in and how to get to it. u go through security [take off ur shoes] and put stuff like ur carry ons in a bucket on this conveyor belt. they will usually ask for ur ticket. then u find ur flite gate and go up to the desk there and ask if the flites still on time and if theres anything else you need to do. then you can go shopping a bit until its time to board, but make sure ur back at ur gate 10 minutes b4 the time it says ull b boarding. if u have any additional questions, u can ask the ppl at the service desks around the area, and explain tht u havent flied since u were a kid, yada yada yada. on the stop, if the airline ppl say to go to customs, make sure u have ur sheets and tickets, etc. and do whtever they say to do. once u get there, follow the person in front of u to collect ur baggage at the conveyor roundy belt thing. it may take a while, so feel free to go to the bathroom or whatever.
3 :
Park, or take a shuttle; you can probably check your bags curbside - (there will probably be a $2.00 per bag charge) or enter the terminal and check your bags at the counter. Since you have already (wisely) printed your boarding pass, go directly to security. When your reach the TSA agent, have your boarding pass and ID in hand (ID - passport, drivers license or acceptable form of government ID; any concerns, check http://www.TSA.gov). As you approach the screening area, remove your shoes and place the shoes, jackets, purse/carryon in the large plastic bin provided. As the bin goes through the security device, you will proceed, barefooted, through the screening arch. Once through security, go to the gate designated on your boarding pass (recheck on the monitors - gates do sometimes change at the last minute). At your gate, simply wait until group (based on your boarding pass number) is called.."We are now boarding passengers 20 through 40...." In other words, after checking your bags, you will sail straight through to the boarding process. You will stay on the plane while it's discharging and boarding passengers in Charlotte. There are a few things that you should know regarding your carry-on luggage... you're going to put anything small and lose in a quart-size plastic bag, you are restricted to 3 ounces of any liquid (other than medications, formula, breast milk...). You are limited to one clear plastic bag. Again, http://www.TSA. gov will give you the guidelines for anything you carry onboard. For some airlines, free 'soft' drinks and snacks are becoming a thing of the past. US Air is either now or soon will be charging $2.00 per soda, juice or water. No more free meals, some flights offer sandwiches or 'lunch bags' for $5-8.00. You may want to call your airline and ask about their policy on drinks and snacks. Have a great flight, a great time.
4 :
1) well you check in and they will give you a gate number (if they don't ask)that number is where your plane will be taking off from so look at the map and find that gate 2)go to your gate and sit down 3) once you find out where it is you can go grab some coffee or something or go shopping there are a few little knick knack shops around where your gate will be. 3) listen for your boarding call it will sound somthing like "flight number ________with service to Charlotte NC First boarding call" 4) go back to your gate or if you decieded to stay at your gate then just get your things together put your bag on your shoulder all that 5) then you will here one more boarding call that will announce that ALL PEOPLE CAN BOARD NOW you must get on then PSif you get to the gate and you need to use the restroom (which I reccomend since they dont let you go on the plane untill the seatbelt sign is off and even then the bathroom is like mouse sized) go to the lady at the front desk at your gate and say I need to use the restroom do I have time. and if she says yes then go. JUST BE SURE NOT TO MISS YOUR FLIGHT. oh yeah and RELAX take a deep breath and enjoy yourself the worst that could happen is you forget where to go and then just ask someone that works on the plane DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP THAT IS THERE JOB! enjoy your vacation I hope this helped :) :) GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Most airlines let you have a carry-on allowance (your duffel) as well as one other thing (backpack, purse, laptop bag, briefcase, etc). You should be fine. Its better to carry it all on...checking bags just leads to problems.
4 :
usually they will allow you one carry on size bag and a purse, computer, briefcase, or small tote so probably but check the airlines website or call them to be sure.
5 :
You can carry on 1 bag and 1 personal item ... your duffel bag is your carry on & the backpack is your personal item. Personal items include briefcases, purses, backpacks (school size, NOT hiking!), tote bags, cosmetic bags. When I travel, I take on a 22" roller bag and a totebag that holds my purse, cosmetics, magazines, & dvd player.
6 :
You should be fine to do that...unless you get an incredibly anal flight attendant.

Ah, you have found the issue of "Supply and Demand" haven't you! Look it up, you are in school! How many people fly from Jacksonville to Port Charlotte? Not too many on any given day. Thus tickets are high. If there were demand, there would be more flights. Most smaller US cities have the same issue. You can go from JAX to MIA for under 250. (In fact close checks even show under 200 in some cases.) Why not learn to fly, you can make that trip very easy in a C172 or Piper Warrior/Cherokee etc! Probably would cost you more than a ticket but you could travel when you wanted.

As the previous responder indicates, it's a matter of mass market vs. niche market. The more traffic on a given route, the larger the planes the airline can use. The larger the plane, the less the overhead per passenger and the cheaper the fare they can charge and still make a profit. On top of that, the shorter the route, the higher the overhead...the consumption of fuel is heaviest by far during takeoff and landing and fuel cost is a BIG part of air fares these days. With this being basically an up-and-down hop, little time is spent cruising at altitude where fuel efficiency is highest.

Hint. Check out the local General Aviation Airports. On a week-end, some guy who just wants to fly some cross country hours might 'hop you over'. for the gas money. (It's legal for private pilots to share flight expenses.)

Do any airlines fly direct from London to Charlotte NC? And Dallas or Chicago to Charlotte

Do any airlines fly direct from London to Charlotte NC? And Dallas or Chicago to Charlotte?
I have only been able to find indirect connecting at either Dallas or Chicago, which makes the journey so long! Or can anyone tell me where they suggest i fly to (London to Dallas, Dallas to Charlotte or London to Chicago, Chicago to Charlotte) which would have the shortest flight time? Thanks

Use orbitz and sort by flight time.... you can also specify maximum number of stops
2 :
US Airways Operates LGW-Raleigh Durham Airport. So you can try this. London Gatwick - Raleigh Durham - Charlotte! Hope this helps!
3 :
Both US Air and BMI fly non -stop from London's Gatwick airport to Charlotte, NC. It takes 7hr 45 min east-bound and 9hr 45 min west-bound due to winds. Regards, Dan PS When you are looking for service between cities that may have more than one airport, use the city code when looking for flights rather than an airport code. For London, use "LON" for London rather than using "LHR" for Heathrow.
4 :
US Airways flies nonstop from Charlotte to London's Gatwick Airport. BMI lists nonstop flights between Charlotte and Gatwick, but this is really a code-share flight. If you book it, they will put you on the US Airways flight. They don't operate their own aircraft on this route.

If my flight is late, will the connecting one wait

If my flight is late, will the connecting one wait?
I will be flying from charlotte, nc to dallas ft worth in july. My flight is supposed to arrive in dallas at 8:40 am and leave out of dallas for mexico city at 10:08 am. I know dallas has their train that takes you from gate to gate, but with their reputation of delaying flights...i'm a little uneasy. What do you guys think? Would the connecting flight wait for us?

No your connecting flight will not wait for you, I had the same problem a month ago, arriving at nc but due to weather problems we landed 1:50 later, I lost my connecting flight, so I called the airline and they put me on the next flight that was going out, and do not worry about your luggage, they'll put it in the next flight too. Good Luck =)
2 :
Aitlines sometimes delay a flight for a few minutes if an earlier flight is late AND there are >> many << passengers on the late flight who need to connect. However, you can't count on it. The 1 hour 28 mnutes should be enough time between flights in Dallas. The airline will put you on the next flight to your destination if you miss the connection.
3 :
No they won't. I had that happen to me (Columbus, OH to St. Louis, MO) and had to wait 8 HOURS in the stupid airport for the next flight to West Texas.
4 :
The connecting flight probably won't wait--if there is a large group on the Charlotte flight going to Mexico City they might, note might, wait. If you arrive any time after about 9:15 AM tell the flight attendant that you have a 10:08 connection and ask them to have transportation waiting for the plane to take you to the next gate.
5 :
No, it will probably not wait, unless there's a large group of people on your flight from Charlotte going to Mexico City as well, and even then, there's only a slim chance that they'll hold the plane up for you (chances are better if they're ahead of schedule and if the weather forecast is good). If you *do* miss your connecting flight, go to the counter at your gate and ask them where you need to go to get rebooked. In the meantime (while you're in line), call the airline's 1-800 number - you might be able to be rebooked by phone faster. Don't worry about your luggage - it will get to the airport one way or another since it's got the code on its tag. Good luck with your flights.
6 :
no, since the connecting lfight is different it will not wait. i have experienced a delta flight being late thus i missed a cathay pacific flight to hong kong.(but the terminal attendant that i spoke to the day aftewr said the cathay pacific flight was delayed so i think it could be a coincidence but dont count on it at all.

Flying with a 55 minute connection at Charlotte airport. Will my bags make my connecting flight in 55 min

Flying with a 55 minute connection at Charlotte airport. Will my bags make my connecting flight in 55 min.?
I have a flight from Minneapolis to Cancun with a connection in Charlotte on US Airways. I've never been to the airport before in Charlotte and am a bit concerned that my checked bags won't make the 2nd flight as the connection time is only 55 minutes. Worst case scenario, I guess, is if they don't make the connection there is another flight later that day. Would the bags automatically be put on the next flight if they didn't make the first? Or would I have to request that? Maybe I have nothing to worry about in the first place. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

This is within the minimum connection time at CLT. The bags should make the transfer. If they do not, they will be put on the next available flight to Cancun and a message sent to Cancun advising them of the new routing. You do not have to request this. Regards, Dan
2 :
If both flights are US then they most likely connect at the same terminal. As a travel agent my sytem will tell me if the minimum connection time is not met so I don't think anyone would sell you a ticket without a legal connection time. I would say your luggage will make it and I'm 90% -95% sure.
3 :
With a connection time of 55 minutes you should not have a problem. If for some reason your bags don't make your connecting flight they should automatically be put on the later flight (although I'm sure they will make the connection since this is an average connecting time between flights). Although Charlotte is a very busy airport (U.S. Airways' largest hub) the terminal and concourses themselves are not spread out over a huge area and they all connect easily. Have a great trip!
