I am flying from Norfolk to Montego Bay, connecting in Charlotte. Will I have to recheck my bags

I am flying from Norfolk to Montego Bay, connecting in Charlotte. Will I have to recheck my bags?
Both flights are US Airways, and I booked them as one. They chose the connecting flight for me. Just curious if I will have to recheck my bags in Charlotte, because I do not have a very long layover.

No you will not have to get and re-check your bags. If possible, when you check your bags in Norfolk, double check that the tags read MBJ... the code for Montego Bay. On the return, you will need to get your bags to go thru customs in Charlotte, but you can re-check them easily right after the customs process and you will won't have to go thru security again. RJ

nope charlotte is a nice airport you might have Little walk (since i presume the Norfolk flight is on us air express (which usually end up in concourse E and while the jets use concourse b so you would have a bit of a hike (about 20 minutes walk)

The airline wouldn't be Continental if you are connecting in Charlotte it would be US Airways. Its probably a code share flight you bought it through Continental but the actual plane is a US Airways plane and you will check in with US Airways. Is it the flight from Gatwick? When you check in the airline will tag your luggage through to Las Vegas, the tag would read "CLT" & "LAS". When you arrive Charlotte this is your first point of entry into the U.S. and is where you will do immigration and customs. So you will pass through immigration and proceed to the customs hall and collect your baggage, physically take it through customs then turn it back over to the airline to be rechecked, its an easy process since your bags are already tagged. When you come out of the customs hall you will see a bag drop/recheck area for US Airways. You will have to do security to get back out to the gates for your Las Vegas flight so if you've bought any duty free liquor leaving Gatwick make sure you transfer it from your carry-on to your checked luggage before you recheck your bags or they will confiscate it at security :( You will not do customs again in Las Vegas as you'll be arriving on a domestic flight from Charlotte. Have a great time in Sin City :)

So yes, you are flying with US Airways. Once you arrive to Charlotte you will go through customs then pick up your bags and you will then need to go where it says Baggage in Connection you'll leave them there so they get to Vegas and then you will just follow the signs that says Connections where you will pass a Security Point. 3 hours is plenty of time so it's 99% you make this connection.

What are the procedures of boarding a flight? URGENT

What are the procedures of boarding a flight? URGENT?
I haven't flown since I was a child so I am completely clueless as to what the steps are to boarding a plane. I am taking a flight (alone) tomorrow morning, bright and early from Milwaukee to Myrtle Beach. There is one stop (in Charlotte, NC) on the way there. Any outlines/guidelines for me? Park, then check in, then security? I already printed off my boarding passes from the airline's website.

yea park, go to the check in counter and check in any luggage that youre not carrying on. make sure the luggage is unlocked or locked with a tsa lock, or they will call you back and its a pain. then go to the tsa check point, they will check your carry on, if you have a laptop you have to take it out and put it in it's own lil tub, so that you can power it on and show them its a laptop and not a freaking bomb. take your shoes off and all metal and put it in another tub. if you are carrying any liquids (AT ALL even some lip gloss is bomb like contraband to the TSA) you cant have more than 3 oz. of any one liquid and each seperate liquid item has to all fit in a quart size ziploc baggie. its really just a hassle, try not to carry liquids on with you. you cant carry water or a coke, youll have to buy that when you get thru security, some food is alright tho. then when you get all your crap checked and put your shoes back on and TSA is sure youre not a terrorist... you go find your gate and wait for boarding. they call you by groups. your group will be located on your boarding pass, you just give the attendant your pass and get on the plane. store your items, fasten your seatbelt, and make stupid chit chat with someone next to you untill the plane takes off. have a good time!

get there about 2 hours early first: check in ur luggage and show them the bording passes. then ask what gate to go in and how to get to it. u go through security [take off ur shoes] and put stuff like ur carry ons in a bucket on this conveyor belt. they will usually ask for ur ticket. then u find ur flite gate and go up to the desk there and ask if the flites still on time and if theres anything else you need to do. then you can go shopping a bit until its time to board, but make sure ur back at ur gate 10 minutes b4 the time it says ull b boarding. if u have any additional questions, u can ask the ppl at the service desks around the area, and explain tht u havent flied since u were a kid, yada yada yada. on the stop, if the airline ppl say to go to customs, make sure u have ur sheets and tickets, etc. and do whtever they say to do. once u get there, follow the person in front of u to collect ur baggage at the conveyor roundy belt thing. it may take a while, so feel free to go to the bathroom or whatever.

Park, or take a shuttle; you can probably check your bags curbside - (there will probably be a $2.00 per bag charge) or enter the terminal and check your bags at the counter. Since you have already (wisely) printed your boarding pass, go directly to security. When your reach the TSA agent, have your boarding pass and ID in hand (ID - passport, drivers license or acceptable form of government ID; any concerns, check http://www.TSA.gov). As you approach the screening area, remove your shoes and place the shoes, jackets, purse/carryon in the large plastic bin provided. As the bin goes through the security device, you will proceed, barefooted, through the screening arch. Once through security, go to the gate designated on your boarding pass (recheck on the monitors - gates do sometimes change at the last minute). At your gate, simply wait until group (based on your boarding pass number) is called.."We are now boarding passengers 20 through 40...." In other words, after checking your bags, you will sail straight through to the boarding process. You will stay on the plane while it's discharging and boarding passengers in Charlotte. There are a few things that you should know regarding your carry-on luggage... you're going to put anything small and lose in a quart-size plastic bag, you are restricted to 3 ounces of any liquid (other than medications, formula, breast milk...). You are limited to one clear plastic bag. Again, http://www.TSA. gov will give you the guidelines for anything you carry onboard. For some airlines, free 'soft' drinks and snacks are becoming a thing of the past. US Air is either now or soon will be charging $2.00 per soda, juice or water. No more free meals, some flights offer sandwiches or 'lunch bags' for $5-8.00. You may want to call your airline and ask about their policy on drinks and snacks. Have a great flight, a great time.

1) well you check in and they will give you a gate number (if they don't ask)that number is where your plane will be taking off from so look at the map and find that gate 2)go to your gate and sit down 3) once you find out where it is you can go grab some coffee or something or go shopping there are a few little knick knack shops around where your gate will be. 3) listen for your boarding call it will sound somthing like "flight number ________with service to Charlotte NC First boarding call" 4) go back to your gate or if you decieded to stay at your gate then just get your things together put your bag on your shoulder all that 5) then you will here one more boarding call that will announce that ALL PEOPLE CAN BOARD NOW you must get on then PSif you get to the gate and you need to use the restroom (which I reccomend since they dont let you go on the plane untill the seatbelt sign is off and even then the bathroom is like mouse sized) go to the lady at the front desk at your gate and say I need to use the restroom do I have time. and if she says yes then go. JUST BE SURE NOT TO MISS YOUR FLIGHT. oh yeah and RELAX take a deep breath and enjoy yourself the worst that could happen is you forget where to go and then just ask someone that works on the plane DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP THAT IS THERE JOB! enjoy your vacation I hope this helped :) :) GOOD LUCK!!!!!

If they canceled your flight they should be working to find another flight (even if on another airline) to get to your destination.
2 :
Complain all you want but I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that one of their planes is sitting in the Hudson river right now that was on it's way to N.C. That was probably going to be your plane. Read the news!
3 :
Honey, you're assigned aircraft is sitting in the Hudson River in New York City.
4 :
The flight that was cancelled is the flight that crashed in the Hudson.
5 :
they usually book you on another flight and its possible the plane they had planned to use was the same plane that had incident today have patience it will work out
6 :
If your joking then your a prick, if your not then your a prick, so either way you are a prick.
7 :
i'm surprised you didn't ask for rule 240 which they have to put you on another carriers airplane at their cost and they should have more then one flight to seatec
8 :
Move to Australia and fly Qantas. They're the best. Not one cancelation or delay.
